The Little Things

I got to a point where there were several things that needed to be done but I just had not gotten to them yet. Located a battery tray from a junk yard along with a bunch of other little parts.  This was huge (for me anyway) so that is where I started... installed new battery tray. ECM holder installed too. Lastly, I installed a brand new light under the hood.

Plastic Prep & Paint

Most of the plastic interior pieces needed to be painted black.  I prefer SEM matte black as it seems to hold up better than some of the other available options.  Every piece of plastic was cleaned, prepped and lastly painted.  Below are a few pictures of my progress. The door panels were difficult to paint.  I had to mask off the carpet, pocket and vinyl section at Dan's request..

Door Speaker Install

A pair of MB Quart speakers needed to get installed in each front door.  I have always preferred to "hide" my installs so that the if the average person looked through the window, they wouldn't see anything.  I did the same thing with Dan's car. I started out by cutting a baffle for the speakers out of 1/2 inch MDF. I then had to cut some additional mater out of the door to make room for the speaker and tweeter. Mounted the baffle to the door panel. Soldered the tweeter wires as well as crimped on some gold plated speaker wire terminals. This is the finished product after I covered the entire assembly in Rammat... and yes, it does fit behind the stock door panel.
